Small Child, Vomiting Episodes, Loose Stools, Diarrhea. On Nan Formula, Cerelac. Start Vizylac?
Hi My 14 month old son vomited two times yestreday. We started Vomikind . Now yesterday night he started loose motion. It s four times already in16 hours, not sure if he has diaorreha. He has given breast milk only for 15 days aft birth. We are giving Nan as supplement . Apart from that he takes only Cerelac and rice paste only. Bou now he is reluctant to milk also. Pls help what to do. Can we start Vizylac now?
Hello there,
If the frequency and consistency of stools has changed it is definitely diarrhea.
Children on formula feeds are prone for infections as it is difficult to maintain good hygiene all the time. Since your baby is vomiting and has diarrhea, he is refusing feeds.
Keep an eye on his temperature and worsening of symptoms like abdominal distention and signs of dehydration. Ensure proper hand washing while preparing feeds.
Use only distilled water for the same. Vizylac cap may be difficult to give to a 14 month old.
Instead you can give sporolac sachet by mixing it in water which would be easier to administer.
Wishing your child a speedy recovery.
Take care.
