Small Child, Nasal Discharge, Loose Stools With Fishy Odor. Causes For Symptoms?

My son is 21 months old. He has had runny, loose stools for several months now. I have taken him to his regular doctor several times and he doesn t seem to notice any physical symptoms or diagnosis. In the past two days, his stool has turned to an off white or tan color, very runny, with almost a fishy odor. I am concerned and have contacted his doctor so that I might take a stool sample in to him that I have collected. If, again, I am turned away, is there any suggestions or possibilities that I may look into?

hello..
From what you have mentioned, its almost many days over now. I can understand your worries.

Though i don't doubt the diagnosis made by your doctor as he would be in a better position to assess the condition of your child than me,

Don`t panic. Calm down, be courageous and get her treated.

White stool and foul smell indicate , may be it is bacterial infection, It needed proper antibiotic therapy to cover the infection.

I would advice:
keep her/ him Hydrate. Is most important condition in diarrhea
1.Give plenty of water(1/2 liter water+ 4 tsf sugar+ 1/2 tsf salt) Or ORS
2.Apple juice, Tea, Pomegranate juice, Coconut water, lemon water Butter milk, Rice Kanjee,
Arrowroot Kanjee etc
3. Proper hygiene.
4 Avoid out side food.
5.You should get her evaluated once for her complaint to get her examined physically by a
pediatrician.

For runny nose:

In this period most of child frequently suffer from cold, cough etc,(Upper Respiratory Tract Infection)
Most of times this is viral/ allergic and its self limiting.
Because of low immunity and low diseases resistant power child suffering from this.

I would advice:
1. Avoid exposure to cold (cold make ciliary activity sluggish and hence the organisms tracking
down the airways cannot be swept out, making a progression to lower respiratory infection)
2. Keep your child warm (Wrapping with cotton cloth )
3. Stem inhalation with precaution.(Plain water do not add any decongestant like vicks etc)
4. Try to increase his immune system with proper and regular diet.
5. Maintain hygiene.
6. Don't give more medicine
