Small child, irritable, pain in buttocks, no rashes. Irritation due to friction?

Hi, my three year old son this evening became very upset for an hour or so complaining of pain in his bottom cheeks. There is no red rash and the area of skin looks fine. There are no visible signs of anything that could be hurting him. He is still in nappies and wondered if maybe it was rubbing his skin and irritating it? Kind regards

Thank you for your query.

It is very likely that the nappies may be irritating the skin. I suggest that you apply some bland ointment or oil and observe. This should give your son some relief. In case the complaints persist then it will be advisable to consult your doctor.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your son an early recovery.
