Skin On Belly Stretched Out, Painful, Hurts More On Right Side. Suggestions?

I had a twin pregnancy 3 years ago. my belly really stretched out. Since then the skin on my belly are extremely sensitive almost painful to the touch. When I sneeze or laugh it also hurts , more on the rights side than the left side. Sometimes it is worse during a certain time of the month. Do you have any light to shed, because this has become a daily struggle for me.

Hi, Welcome to HCM ....You must be having striae distance after post partum period..

Striae distensae, a common skin condition, do not cause any significant medical problem; however, striae can be of significant distress to those affected. They represent linear dermal scars accompanied by epidermal atrophy.

In linear focal elastosis (elastotic striae), asymptomatic, yellow linear bands arrange themselves horizontally over the lower back. These lesions may resemble striae distensae, but they are palpable rather than depressed and yellow rather than purplish or white.

Topical application of tretinoin has been shown to significantly improve the clinical appearance of early striae distensae (striae rubra) as depicted below. It should not, however, be used in pregnant or breastfeeding females owing to a theoretical concern about its teratogenic effects. The use of other retinoids such as adapalene and tazarotene may also hold promise in the treatment of striae distensae.

Regards.
