Hello Doctor, My skin is getting dry at various places of body. I approach doctor and he suggest me venusia lotion of Dr.reddy's lab. But when I apply it, I am feeling burning and even after using almost 5 days I still feel my skin dry...Shall I discontinue using it?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM.

Extremely dry and irritated skin sometimes needs more than just a moisturizer and when the skin is very dry even using plain water causes burning sensation.

If i was your treating doctor i would have advised you to mix the moisturizer with a moderately potent steroid like mometasone and apply it twice daily over the affected areas.

Avoid using soaps over that area, instead using a non soap based gentle cleansing lotion would be preferable.

take care

Dermatologist Dr. Sanjay Kumar Kanodia's  Response
Hi,

I can understand your concern for burning sensation due to use of venusia lotion.

It is quite common to find the sensitivity of any of these products.

This is due to either typically the fragrance added in these products or due to the type of preservative used. Though the product is quite good but we never know what product can cause the sensitivity to one or the other thing.

I suggest you to stop the lotion and report this problem to your treating dermatologist. In future whenever you use a new product, use it behind the ear for few days and if not causing then can start it.

Take care.
