Should I Be Worried Of Spotting And Gestational Diabetes During Pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant. Feeling very light headed after eating the last few days, especially lunch. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy; and have had very light spotting for last few days so I'm worried about miscarriage and gestational diabetes.

Hi, I have gone through your question. Light headedness is common in early pregnancy because of the hormonal changes in the body which leads to low blood pressure.
Gestational diabetes mellitus in last pregnancy is a risk factor for developing gestation diabetes mellitus in this pregnancy. For detecting it, you need to get your fasting and post prandial blood sugar levels done now, if normal then go for repeat testing by glucose tolerance test in second trimester.
Spotting in early pregnancy can be due to haemorrhage around the foetus( subchorionic haemorrhage), threatened abortion, or ectopic pregnancy.
I would suggest you to consult an OBGYN specialist to get properly examined, get an ultrasound done to confirm the diagnosis and get further management accordingly.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
