Hi,

Thanks for the query.

You have had two miscarriages. This makes this pregnancy extra precious.

Cramping in the lower abdomen may be an early sign of a threatened abortion. So you need to take extra care. It is better that you see your obstetrician. At 5 weeks an ultrasound will only reveal a sac but it is better to get it done as it will also be helpful to compare with future scans.

Also for similar patients in my clinic, I advise complete bed rest, folic acid tablets to prevent brain abnormalities in the baby, HCG injections and progesterone tablets to help prevent abortion and maintain pregnancy.

You must also get investigated for cause of repeated abortions like antiphospholipid antibody, TORCH infections, thyroid hormone, blood sugar levels and chromosomal analysis to determine any genetic issues. These conditions are treatable.

Hope I was able to help you. Thanks for using Health Care Magic.
I would be happy to answer any further queries.
Have a nice day.
