Should i be concerned as i am having stabbing pain under my left ribs?

i had a fundoplycation almost 10 years ago but now am having severe stabbing pains under my left ribs and over into center of my stomach where the ribs meet in the middle. I take PPI s but they dont do anything to help. Is this something I should be concerned about like my pancreas or something?

Hello,

Stabbing pain under the rib can be due to a muscle spasm, an injury in the local area or inflammation like costochondritis. Taking mild pain killers, hot compress and application of local analgesic gels will help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon

I have been having stabbing pain under both sides of my ribs and have been bloated and easily nauseated. Had an ultrasound and there were white specks all over my gallbladder. Doctor is being vague and I was told today they need a CT scan to evaluate further. I have also lost 20 lbs recently rather rapidly and have not done anything to make me lose weight. I m a 46 year old female and have had a total hysterectomy. Should I be concerned? What could it be?

My husband has a stange feeling like under his rib cage on his left side. At times there is a sharp needle like stab. It did not hurt today while at work, but I do see him feel that area. He is eating well, not sick, active, does not smoke, social drinking, but I can tell he is concerned. Is it his pancreas? Of course my mind goes to cancer. This feeling just came on recently. The needle like pain started two days ago. Thank you for your time.

I developed a sharp pain in the area around the bottom of the rib cage on the left side. It started today , I ve been fine, no health issues at all. It feels like a stabbing pain if I move the wrong way. Is it something I should be concerned about? Thank you..

Since 2009 I had my spleen removed from (there was a 6.5 cm cyst on it), I had the tail of my pancreas removed (small cyst, that could have become cancerous). And just last week a quarter size nodule was found on my thyroid (waiting for results from sonogram and blood work). I am curious is there a condition that would make all of this appear that could all be related? I have a new primary care doctor who is looking into everything now, but before each issue has been treated separately. In the past all my blood work was always normal - my spleen was removed in 8/2009 and in 4/2010 when the tail of my pancreas was removed my spleen started growing back.

Hi doctor I ve had a bad pain in my left side back and front for 3 days now. Went to a walk in doctor and he said it s not my spleen or kidney . The pain gets worse when I eat and I have had some constipation with it. Now I m having pulsating on the inner side of my left knee no pain though just annoying. I also had pain in the right side of my neck. I ve been sick since April and now I m concerned about my pancreas . What could all of this be?
