Should I Take Plan B Pill After Inserting Nuvaring?

I was about a week late in inserting my nuvaring. I inserted it on Wednesday and that night my fiancé and I had unexpected, unprotected sex. Is the ring effective or should I pok up a plan B pill. I feel ridiculous but my nipples are sore and I've had weird cramps (can't tell if I'm hungry or not) and I'm exhausted. I know it's only been a couple days but I'm freaking.

Hi,

Nuvaring starts working immediately and you don't need to use any additional protection. Your symptoms could be due to the hormone effect and also because you have had a week of hormone withdrawal. Also, if you have been more than 72 hours after the unprotected intercourse, there is not much use in using the emergency contraceptive pill. So, just wait and get further help if you notice any delayed period.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
