Should I Be Concerned About The Fluttering Feeling In The Heart Even Though The EKG Looks Normal?

I have been having a fluttering feeling in my heart when I lay down at night and when I wake in the morning. I went to the doctor yesterday and he did an EKG said every thing looks fine and go and get a monitor next week to wear for two days. Today it is still doing the same should I be concerned?

Dear patient,

Thanks for your query. For most patients, the cause of palpitations is rather benign, and related to premature or skipped beats, called PAC's or PVC's. On the other hand, these symptoms may be caused by a transient abnormality in the rhythm of the heart.

The most prudent thing is to wait for the results of the Holter, which will give us the correlation of the electrical activity of the heart when you are having symptoms; make sure to remember to record the symptoms if they arise.

Hope that is useful, wish you the best,
