Sharp Pain In Head, Mild Fever, Stomach Cramps, Diarrhea. Food Poisoning?

Hi I have had sharp pain in in my head like cluster headache, mild fever, which lasted 2 days, then develped stomach cramps, & diarreah now just the occasional stomach cramp & diarreah because I have been eating only dry biscuits . Could it be a type of food poisoning - I went to a function where food was pooled the day it started.

Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

Your symptoms are suggestive of viral gastroenteritis or gut flu. As expected, it is most likely related to the food you recently had.

The symptoms would get better over time, and no specific therapy is usually necessary.

You could consult a gastroenterologist if your symptoms persist beyond 5-7 days.

I hope it helps. Please get back if you have any more queries.

Best wishes,
Dr Sudhir Kumar MD DM (Neurology)
