Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.
All the symptoms in the description suggests that you have
LUMBAR DISC DISEASE with
RADICULOPATHY. This means that a lumbar
intervertebral disc is causing compression or pressure over the exiting
nerve root at that level causing typical sciatic pain and numbness which goes down the leg upto toes.
The initial management for this problem is always conservative by following means -
* avoid lifting heavy weights
* avoid forward bending activities
* Use a lumbosacral back support
* Intermittent pelvic traction
* Maintain optimum body weight,if you are obese
*
Physiotherapy to strengthen your back muscles. Physiotherapy has to be done only after the acute pain has subsided.
* Judicious use of analgesics and muscle relaxants.
If the above measures fail to provide pain relief, then an EPIDURAL STEROID injection can be tried.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
