Sensitive To Greasy, Fatty, Acidic Food After Surgery For Hernia. Will This Sensitivity Be Permanent? Should I Meet A Doctor?

Hi, my mom had surgery in 2010 to remove colon cancer. Her appendicts and 3mm of her colon was removed. She later developed hernias which caused her to have hernia surgery although the surgeon did not mend all the hernias, there is still one left. She is still sensitive to greasy, fatty and gaseous producing foods. Will her sensitvity remain permanent after the surgery and should she visit a wound care specialist concerning the restrengthing of her inner tissue to prevent any future hernias. She looks great for 72 almost like Tina Turner!

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Some persons may find increased sensitivity to certain foods after removal of some of the colon.

The reduced length of the colon may impact on the ability to absorb foods which may contribute to her problem with fatty foods.
This sensitivity may or may not change with time.

IN terms of strengthening her abdominal muscles, a physiotherapist may be more helpful than a wound care specialist.
A wound care specialist would be helpful if there are wounds or lesions that are not healing.

I hope this helps
