Semen Analysis Shows Low Sperm Count. Prescribed Fertisure. When Should Sperm Count Be Monitored?
My self bhavin, i am traying for a baby since 3 yrs. Now i consult gaynec. As per instruction i go for Semen Analysis. My sperm count is very low. Doctor suggest me fertisure M. My doubt is what is the good & safe period to conceive. I start medicines from 12-13 days. What should be the stage to monitor the sperm count?
To maximize chance of pregnancy, you need to involve in unprotected sexual intercourse close to ovulation day or fertile days (11th-18th day of regular 28-30 days cycle). For monitoring of ovulation, your wife can use ovulation prediction kit in the mid cycle.
You need to increase sperm count for successful conception. You would continue above medication for at least 3 months. After that, you repeat your semen analysis test with 3-5 days abstinence from sex or masturbation.
The ideal fertility period for a couple is the middle 10 days of the menstrual cycle of the woman. That is consider the day 1 as she sees her period and if she has the regular period her ovulation would fall around 13 - 16 day of the cycle. So the middle 10 days will be considered as the fertility period. The seminal analysis is preferably monitored during treatment once in 3 months as the cycle of Spermatogenesis is completed by 70-75 days. Wish you a success in your attempt in attaining the family way. Dr S.Murugan
Hi Dear, In a female with regular 28-30 days cycle, day 8-day 18th is the most fertile period with increased chances of conception. For a female to conceive, besides having patent tubes, good follicles and endometrial lining, adequate and healthy semen count of husband is also of equal importance. However, semen analysis should be carried out properly after 3 days of abstinence or even without masturbation which gives the exact report. Also, any abnormal test should be checked with a repeat test. In case of low sperm count, leaving smoking and alcohol do help besides medicines. All the best
