I want to know wether the result of this semen analaysis is good or not? vol. 3.0ml .. appearance normal .. pH 8 .. liquefaction 30 min .. sperm coun/ml 72 million .. sperm count/ejaculate 216 million .. motility *(1hour) 80% .. progressive 30% .. nonprogressive 50% .. immotile 20% .. normal forms 62% .. abnormal heads 25% .. abnormal midpieces 9% .. abnormal principal pieces 0% .. excess residual cytoplasm 4% .. W.B.Cs./ml 300,00 .. agglutination present (++)
and if agglutination affects conceiving a baby ?? and want to know the treatment of this agglutination
Also, the progressive ratio (30%) is good or not??
Hello and welcome to HCM, The presence of WBCs in such great numbers indicates an infection of the genital tract. This infection needs to be treated with appropriate antibiotics. All other parameters - volume, sperm count and sperm concentration are within normal limits. However, progressive motility is only 30%. It should be atleast 50%. But, in the presence of infection, the motility cannot be labelled as sub-normal. Agglutination may be due to presence of infection.
A repeat semen examination is required after treating the infection.
