Scanty Periods. Will It Cause Pregnancy Issues In Future? Hypomenorrhea?

I am a female 21 years of age, height 5'2 and weight 120. For the past four years I am experiencing very scanty periods, my periods last three days max and are very light, they do however come regularly on a monthly cycle. I have researched online that maybe I have hypomenorrhea, is this true? I took a blood test last year and everything was normal, should i be concerned? I am aware that scanty periods are not good to have especially for getting pregnant in the future. What should I do? Will having scanty periods cause pregnancy issues in the future for me?

Hello,
Thanks for posting to HCM,
Two important possibilities are uterine adhesions and endometriosis. Other causes for such hypomenorrhea which need to be evaluated include hormonal imbalance like low thyroid hormone level and high prolactin, insulin or androgen levels, anxiety and stress, overexercising, malnutrition, anorexia, thyroid disease, polycystic ovarian disease and diseases of the hypothalamus or pituitary. I suggest you to get an examination done from a gynecologist along with investigations like CT abdomen, hormone assay done. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations . For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. take care.
