please explian l4/5 central disc bulge distorting the anterior aspect of the cal sac. l5/s1 a central and right paracentral disc bulge. There is impression on the s1 nerve root within the lateral recess and the spinal canal which appears slightly flattened. c5/6 a broad base disc bulge. There is right paracentral and lateral component. Slight encroachment on the right side of the foramen is patent.
Hi thanks for your question. There are small discs in between the bones of back. These disc have many functions besides making back flexible, they act as cushions and prevent friction between bones of back. Nerve roots from spinal cord pass below these discs. These disc get prolapsed from the intervertebral space in various direction that is interiorly, posteriorly ,lateraly (right or left side)and central.This usually happens due to trauma. Theses disc are numbered from C1 that is in neck to S5 end part of back bone. You have disc prolapsed at L4 ,L5 .The prolapse is central and it has distorted the spinal canal. Another prolapse is at L5,S1 level where prolapse is central and paracentral.This disc has produced pressure effects on S1 nerve root. Spinal canal at this level is flattenened due to disc buldge .You have right par central and lateral disc buldge at C5,C6 level that is in neck. Hope this answers your question.
