Red, Itchy Bump On Face. Tried Calamine, Antibiotic Cream. How To Get Relief?
I have 1bump on my face that has been there for over a month now. At first I thought it was a bug bite due to it being raised, red and itchy however with it still there I am stumped as to what it is. I have tried calamine for itchiness and triple antibiotic cream. Any thoughts on this because now I m getting worried. It has woke me up from the itchiness and sometimes oozes what appears to be clear fluid but hardens almost golden like. Thank you for any response!
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.
From the description of your symptoms, it appears that you may be having a cystic swelling, such as a sebaceous cyst or an infected pimple. The on and off infections may be causing it to ooze fluid sometimes and solidify at other times.
I would suggest the following remedial measures:
- Firstly, never pinch or sqeeze the swelling, as it can result in superimposed infection
- Secondly, gently wash the area with soap or a mild anti-septic solution frequently
- You can apply a topical antiseptic cream over the swelling
- Keep the area dry and free of sweat as far as possible
In case these simple remedial measures don't work or you develop any other complications, then you have to get it examined by a doctor for further management.
Wish you all the best.

Dr. Jonas Sundarakumar
