Recurring Severe Itching In The Vagina, Pimple Like Painful Ulcer On Vagina Lip. History Of Having Unprotected Sex. Advice

I have recently been with a new partner who assured me he is 'clean'. I know his background very well and know that he has been faithful to his previous partner of 10 years. However, 2 weeks since we first had unprotected sex i had severe vaginal itching that took nearly 3 weeks to go away. My montly period came and went and i was okay since then. However, my period is due in a few days' time and the itch has returned although it is very mild this time and comes and goes. I have though, since a week ago noticed a pimple-like/ulcer on my vagina lip. It is hurting a little since two nights ago. I spoke with my partner again and he assures me that he is clean and has no history of STDs. I trust him. What do i do though?

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic.

Trust is an interesting social thing but when it comes to medicine, trust is replaced with facts or test results. In as much as he could be free and your problem not due to an STD, unless you get tested and get cleared off too with results, it will be uncertain.
The two most common causes of vulval itch are yeast infection and Trichomoniasis. Yeast infection is not thought to be sexually transmitted but it is thought to be favored by sexual intercourse.
Trichomoniasis is sexually transmitted.
You should meet a doctor for detail examination and tests.
Best regards
Dr Achuo
