Recovered from Jaundice, massive hair loss after this. How to regain hair ?

Hi Doctor, I was diagnosed with Jaundice in August and I recovered in a month s time. The doctor told me that I could eat oily food after recovery. Ever since my Jaundice was diagnosed, I have been shedding massive amounts of hair, and continue to do so. I had rich thick hair before and now I m only left with 1/3rd of my hair which are dry and brittle. I even consulted a doctor in this regard. He gave me a few supplements but that didn t help. Doctor, please tell me if Jaundice can cause balding? What should I do to regain my hair? PLEASE HELP!

Hi Sneha,
You are most probably having a type of hair fall that is known as telegenic effluvium. It mainly occurs due to prolonged illness in your case jaundice and leads to diffuse hair fall. The good thing is that one almost regains the lost hair back in 6 month to an year's time. Improve your diet, take good nutritious food rich in proteins. You can also start on biotin and micronutrient supplement along with minoxidil 2% solution for better hair growth. Take care
