Hello .. I have been diagnosed having Hashimoto s disease by my endo and on 45MG armour, I was on thyroxin for 4 years after having been on Synthroid for about 15 years. I went into the er today because my blood pressure was 216/101 and seem my blood pressure stays around 135/85 most of the time in the last year - and it can fluctuate when I am stressed. I have not felt right for several years now. While I was on thyroxin is when I noticed my blood pressure was rising, heart palpitations, twitchy, nervous and felt like my eyeballs were going to pop out. This is when I seeked advise from my endocrinologist Dr Hughes and about a year ago put me on armour. The er doc did TSH test and stated that T4 level is correct but seems it is not tell the TSH that is and the t3 value is not correct. I am now waiting for my primary physician and the endocrinologist callback to see whats next. My primary physician had the er doc put me on a small dosage of blood pressure medicine. Have any suggestions on what to test next?

Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Praveen G's Response
Hello, Welcome to HCM,
There are so many cause for sudden rise in the blood pressure.
1. Stress induced 2. inadequate or improper medications. 3. Diurnal variations like morning and evening.
Since in your situation I recommend you to rule out endocrinopathies like pheochromocytoma and other disorders.
Rule out hypothyroidism.Secondly try to add an antihypertensive drug at the night so that there will be no variation in the blood pressure in the night. Thank you.
