Rapid Heart Rate. Feeling Hazy, Fuzzy. Occassional Chestpains. Serious?

Curious about a rapid heart rate issue lately. The other night I was sitting on the couch for about thirty minutes waiting for my heart to slow down, it felt like it was going to explode out of my chest . After 30 minutes I checked my pulse and it was almost 180. I have been feeling a bit hazy and fuzzy lately also and occasional pains in the middle of my chest. I am a 46 yr old woman, 5 4 about 130lbs. This has been going on for a few weeks. I am not sure how seriously to take this. What could potentially cause this?

Hello dear...
Chest pain and rapid heart rate can be caused by various reasons, including minor problem such as indigestion or stress, to serious medical emergencies such as a heart attack.

So, investigations like an Electrocardiogram or Stress Echocardiography can be done to rule out any heart involvement.

Other causes of chest pain include:
1. Strained chest muscles due to overuse
2. Chest muscle injury
3. Short-term, sudden anxiety with rapid breathing
4. Peptic ulcer disease
5. Pain from the digestive tract, such as esophageal reflux

So, it will be better to consult a Doctor & get a physical examination done to rule out other causes. So that proper management steps could be taken.

Wishing you a Good Health. Let me know if I need to clarify further.

Thanks & take care.
