Emergency Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thanks for your query.

Rapid, pounding heart beat is called palpitations, and can be seen in a variety of conditions. Some of the common conditions causing palpitations are anxiety disorders, anaemia, thyroid problems, substances like caffeine, alcohol, etc. as well as heart problems. If you are having frequent such episodes, then you need to have a proper evaluation done to ascertain the cause. So, I would advise you to consult your GP for thorough physical examination and further investigations.

Best wishes,
Dr. Sheeba Stephen
