It works by reducing the amount of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the body. DHT is responsible for hair loss. So finasteride prevents hair loss. Various sexual side effects have been documented especially loss of libido, erectile dysfunction etc but these are rare and reversible when used for few months. You have also been prescribed tablet androanagen which has saw palmetto which is a plant extract and blocks DHT without any sexual side effects. Your dermatologist who has examined you may have felt the need for both finax and saw palmetto though both have same mechanism of action. But still if you want to skip finax you may discuss it with him. 2.Tablet Androanagen consists of supplements, deficiency of which may be a cause of hair fall. They help in stopping hair fall and promote hair growth. It contains biotin, green tea extract, green apple extract , minerals like iron, magnesium, selenium, zinc,copper etc, calcium pantothenate, taurine, folic acid and saw palmetto. 3.
