I was wondering when your pregnant for your first prenatal do doctors screen you in canada for all sti's ex. hep c , hiv ext. ? I had an iffy past 10 yrs. ago before I had my first child. As soon as I got pregnant i stopped everything I never did needles or anything like that but i was wondering if doctors automatically screen you so you and your baby are completely healthy.

Hi,
Candidiasis is a fungal infection that can occur any time and is not necessarily tested as a part of routine antenatal check up unless there are symptoms. There is nothing like automatic screening. Only thins your gynaecologist can do is narrow down to bare minimal tests that can be performed as a part of routine antenatal check up. But of course not without needles. There are various excellent multisampler options available these days wherein only one prick can take many samples.
