Period Not Yet Started, White Thick Discharge Coming. Lip Of Vagina Swollen. Reason?
Hello , my daughter is 12 years . She has not started her period but she been complaining about white , kinda like thick discharge coming out regularly . No iching or burning or weird smell the left lip of her vagina is also swollen . She takes showers everyday she told me she scrubs hard in the shower to make sure its clean . is she okay ? help
Hi, Thanks for writing in to us. You daughter might be cleaning the vaginal region with lots of soap to keep it clean. It should be noted that the vagina is a sensitive part of the body and washing gently with water and keeping the area dry is more than enough to keep it clean. Scrubbing it will destroy the healthy vaginal flora and make it more susceptible for infections. Soaps are also know to be chemical irritants.
Please have her checked up by a doctor and explain her situation. The thick discharge can be normal vaginal discharge or the sign of an infection. It can be confirmed only on clinical examination.
