hello doc, i have recently given birth to a baby girl on 30th oct, after almost 2 and a half month i started bleeding heavily with huge clots, this bleeding was impossible to be stooped by a sanitary pad it was that heavy....now i got pelvis ultrasound done and have been diagnosed with uteriane fibroids ....my gynic has given me regestrone 5mg 2 tablets three time a dayfor 3 days and next 7 days 2 tablets twice a day and next 10 days 2 tablets in the night ...will i have this heavy bleeding with clots always...the uterus measure 8.1 *4.8*3.5 cm and revels a fundal posterior fibroid 2.4 * 1.7 cm posterior sub-serosal fibroid measuring 1.8 *1.4 cm and right lateral sub-serosal measuring 1.9*1.2cm...
hi there, the size of the fibroids mentioned are not very big per se but as you are post partum and your uterus may not have involuted completely the fibroids are hampering in the normal contraction and clotting of the blood in the blood vessels due to which you are having this heavy bleeding along with clots. As the uterus involutes the fibroid size may decrease leading to less symptoms, so follow the medication and advise given by your obstetrician and hopefully you will be fine in a month or so. Take some iron suppliments to recover the iron lost during mensturation and to avoid anemia. Take care.
