Painful Bluish Bruises On Toes And Ankles After Getting Hurt. How Long Will It Take To Heal?

I stubbed my foot very hard running, and there is a lot of bluish/gray bruising on my toes and around my joints and on the top of my foot. After I stubbed it I got really hot for a few minutes and light headed. That made me think I probably broke something in my foot. It is very painful to try to walk on it, but other than that it doesn t bother me that much its not in constant pain. I don t know if I should have it looked at by a doctor or do you think it should be fine after it has time to heal?

hello there..

Since you say you can move your feet , it suggest there is no bony injury. But soft tissues and ligaments can be injured so there is no harm in seeing a orthopaedician personally and get XRAY done.
The blue spots you are mentioning about are called bruises which take minimum one week to return to normal skin colour.
Meanwhile you can use anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen for 3days which will relieve your pain.
Also if you havent taken tetanus prophylaxis in the past 5years, then get one.
take care and be careful

Hello,

In view of details and symptoms I think you should see doctor. Its always wise to get a xray done.
Not only bones but ligament and soft tissue injury also needs to be ruled out.

Mean while try oral analgesics, icing and avoid physical activity.

Regards.
