Pain In Right Side Rib. Diagnosed Strained Muscles. Prescribed Painkillers. Have A Physical Job Needing Bending And Lifts, Smoker. Advice

I'm 58 yrs old and went to the ER a few weeks ago for right side rib pain. The tests came back with strained muscles, I work at a mobile home park so I do a lot of blowing the grounds and lifting. I may add I do smoke (1) pack a day. now the Dr. gave me pain meds but I try not to take them If I don't need too. The pain has come back, I don't know what else to do.

Thank you, Teresa

HI
Thank for choosing HCM, First thing, quit smoking, and see if it relieve the symptoms, if it does not, then go for x-ray study of chest, clinical examination will be needed to rule out other possibility, have nice day.
