Hello Doctor,
Recently, My wife reported a sever back pain, urinary tract pain and hematuria, so we consulted a General physician locally. He advised us to take Ultrasononography and urine culture.
USG revealed mild increased bilateral cortical echoe and culture revealed E.Coli infection.
How to go about it ? iS there any relation between increased echogenicity and infection.

Hi
Thanks for the query

Increased echogenicity is a term that is used by the ultrasonologists for the areas of the body that shows some alterations in the structure mainly of fluid loculations. The infection also results in colony formation which alters the structure of the tissue and collection of inflammatory fluids. The E.coli is a gram negative bacteria and most common for the urinary tract infections. The most effective antibiotic against E.coli is Ciprofloxacin and can be use be used under your doctors prescription. Cranberry extracts have also been very useful in elimination of such infections

Thanks
Regards
