Pain In Arm And Forearm, Tender To Touch. Any Thoughts?

I have had aching pain in my left arm for a considerable time now, about 3 months. Not acute pain, but nagging pain and bruising to elbow. I thought it had occurred after chopping wood using a breezeblock as a chopping block ( silly me ) and maybe the inpact had affected elbow and arm muscles but I haven't chopped any wood now for at least 2 months and it doesn't seem to have cleared up. Not constant pain by any means, just annoying realyy , and worse when I am tired or stressed which makes me feel it may be circulation related...actual elbow bone feels bruised to touch, even after all these weeks, and sometimes pain is in forearm, sometimes in upper arm. Any thoughts ? and is it likely to be a blood clot ?? I'm a 55 year old female, otherwise in good health.

It would help if you ruled out any spinal nerve root compression by imaging of the cervical spine by a MRI Scan. The pain may be secondary to radiculitis of the spinal nerve roots. The other causes would include a Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, brachial Neuralgia,Tennis elbow/Golf elbow depending on whether the inner or the outer side of the elbow is involved. The opinion of your doctor/orthopaedician would help.
