Pain In Adam's Apple While Sneezing And Swallowing. Is It Just Strained Muscle ?

I have been bothered for the past 6 months to year on and off with pain in my adams apple. The pain is at the top of my adams apple. I have been thinking I strained a small muscle or something and it keeps coming back from not getting a chance to heal properly. I sing, especially on Sunday's as I lead songs in my church. The pain does seem to be worse after that. It is a very localized pain when I sneeze and when I swallow. When it is hurting the worst it is like a constant pressure almost like the top of my adams apple is being squeezed. This may sound goofy but that pain is similar to when you are trying to hold back tears from something very emotional. At least I have always experienced pain there when that happens. Is it possible this is just a strained muscle? Thanks, AAAA

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
This may be strained muscle or vocal cord problem or throat infection. Get examined by indirect laryngoscopy once to rule out vocal cord involvement or throat infection. Do salt water gargle thrice a day and breathing exercises and can take Tab Paracetamol for pain. This will relieve even pain due to muscle strain.
Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further management.
Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.
