One Year Old Child, Occasional Yellowish Brown Liquid In Ear, Pus, Blood, Delay In Speech, Hearing Problems. Advise?

My one year old son had tubes put in his ears 3 months ago. His left ear still seems to be bothering him. There is a pussy yellowish brown liquid that comes out of his ear with occasional blood. The Dr's seem to think it is no big deal, I am very worried for a delay in speech and hearing problems. What is wrong, what should I do?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi,

Your description is not complete and not much can be commented. If grommett has been inserted then he must have been seen by an ENT specialist. Speech can be delayed sometimes beyond one year but you have also mentioned he has hearing problems, which could be due to the glue ear for which the tubes were inserted. As the doctors have seen him and said not to worry, you should wait and watch.

Regards,
Sreenivasan
