Numbing Of Hands And Arms, Painful Throbbing Sensation With Swelling In Hands. Low B12 Levels. Is That The Reason?

I have been having a problem with my arms and hands falling asleep nearly as soon as I lay down. It also now does it when I drive or bend my arm even slightly at the elbows. It causes a painful, prickling, throbbing sensation and seems to make my hands swell a bit too. Most of the severe pain is across my palm and into my thumb and poi terms finger . I have had low B-12 in the past and I have no insurance at this time. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
Vitamin B12 deficiency can damage nerve cells and present numbness and throbbing pain sensation in hands, arms or legs. It also causes megaloblastic anemia. Vitamin deficiency may be due to pernicious anemia, gastritis, excessive alcohol consumption. Vitamin B12 deficiency can also occur in vegetarians, because the best food sources of the vitamin are animal products.
Take Vitamin B12 Vitamin supplements and meat, eat eggs and milk.
Get Intrinsic factor assay to rule out pernicious anemia.
Hope it helps.
Take Care!
