Noticed A Lump In Throat And Also Lot Of Burping Is Seen

Hi, I am currently getting a lump in throat and having the need to burp and I think the problem started when I went overseas recently to Bali, Singapore and Malaysia. My longest stay was at Bali for about 6 days and during my time there I ate a lot of food probably 5 meals a day which could be one of the causes. But by the time I reached Singapore I started getting stomach aches and in Malaysia I started having to burp as well as these stomach aches and fart. By the time I returned to Australia the stomach aches were gone but I am still burping and have been for the past month. My doctor suggested getting a lactose tolerance test but it is expensive and I do not think that is the problem as I have been having milk my entire life and I have been fine.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.

As per your complain and presentation of symptoms lump in throat and burping points towards a condition known as "Acid reflux" or Gastro esophageal reflux disease in which stomach from acid regurgitates to throat and mouth and there is feeling of a lump in throat..

Nothing to worry, consult a Gastroenterologist and get evaluated and he can also advise you to get an Endoscopy done.
For acid reflux you can be advised to take Proton pump inhibitors like Omeprazole or Pantoprazole.
Antacids like Milk of magnesia half an hour before meals.
Avoid spicy and acidic foods and also avoid large meals.
Take small portions of food every 2 hours.
Take a short walk after meals.
Eat atleast 2 hours before sleep.
Drink plenty of water.
While sleeping keep your head slightly raised as compared to feet.

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
