Need Advice On Post Medication Symptoms Of Diverticulitis?
I recently was diagnosed with diverticulitis. Went through a week of antibiotics (finished medication 4 days ago). I do have a follow up visit scheduled with my Gastro doctor next week. However, I noticed my bowel movements are getting loser, more frequent and not appearing to improve and typically does not have a extreme odor that normally comes with a bowel movement. Can you provide reasoning for this and what questions that I should ask my doctor when I go for my visit next week. Thank you. J. Gross
Hi, Welcome to Health care magic forum. The reasons for the recurrence may be the reinfection, old infection not cured , or may be the fungal infection, due to the antibiotic usage for longer period. You better immediately consult your doctor for diagnosis of the fungal infection. I usually prescribe to my patient with such symptom a ornidazole, or matronidazole, after stopping the antibiotic and lactic acid bacilli. If it is recurence i usually advise injection of amikacin, ofloxacin, ornidazole, and lactic acid bacilli. Wishing for a quick and complete recovery. Thank you.
