General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi Saranya,
Welcome to HCM.
Pain in the neck region due to compression of nerve needs decompression of the nerve, which can be achieved by wearing cervical collar. Best is to consult an orthopedic surgeon and follow his advise. Surgical decompression may be other option available.
Pain killers are to be avoided as far as possible as they have undesirable side effects.
Wishing your Dad all the best.

Hi,
thanks for query,
It seems that your father is having cervical spondilitis causing problem.
Go for physiotherapy and cervical traction and short way diathermy.
If there is no improvement then surgery is the option.
Consult orthopedic and discuss the problem.
Ok and bye.
