Many men of all ages including young teenage males suffer from Interstitial Cystitis and prostatitis . This is connected to intestinal permeabiltiy and dysbiosis and is an auto-immune disease. It is often suffered along with allergies, bowel problems, itching and mastocytosis. But the medical profession ignore this and just give out antibitoics which are more damaging on the gut integrity and damage the bladder lining more. Why is not more being done to help men with these conditions get to the root of the problem. What can be done to bring down massive bladder flares and inflammation - apart from steroids which just break down even more gut flora .

Urologist 's  Response
hi,
Your concerns are perfectly valid and you seem to be well read. Prostatitis could be infective or non infective and antibiotics will help only if it is infective. Interstitial cystitis is a diagnosis of exclusion. One has to rule out all the causes of bladder inflammation before considering interstitial cystitis. Exact cause for these diseases is not completely understood. However there are treatment available to improve the symptoms and quality of life. But one needs to be treated by a specialist and urologist is best qualified in treating this.
