Lump On Neck Below Left Ear. Had Tonsillectomy During Childhood. Noticed White Spot In The Area. Having Inconsistent Diarrhoea. What Could It Be?

Hello,

I had a lump on my neck about a inch below my left ear. It went away after 4 weeks. Two weeks ago, I got another lump. This time it is still about an inch below left ear but is also approximately an inch further back my neck. Over the past week, I have palpated, and it seems to continually be getting larger and harder. Up to this point, I have experienced no throat pain. I can tell that the left side of my neck fills up with saliva very quickly upon swallowing, so I feel I constantly have to swallow the "lump." I have had inconsistent diarrhea after eating for the past four days.

I have had a tonsillectomy due to recurrent strep throat as a child. When I examine the back of my throat, the left spot where my tonsils would have been seems to have a white coating, as does the right, but less of.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding lump below the ear lobule on the side of neck. There is history of disappearance of the lump in past, at present it refills so quickly after swallowing food.

Considering your symptoms in all aspects it appears as you are having sub mandibular sailoadenitis.

For making diagnosis and deciding line of treatment you are advice for these basic investigations-

1- Ultrasonography of sub mandibular region.

2- FNAC from lump.

These basic investigations along with thorough clinical examination will disclose the facts about diagnosis and that may be manage accordingly.

Regards.
