Lump Inside Ear Canal With Swelling And Pain. Medication Given. Pain Subsided But Lump Exists. Suggestions?

Husband has had lump inside ear canal behind or on back side of Tragus for two weeks. Also had swelling opposite of it in outer ear canal at times; been swelled enough to close ear canal and prevent him from hearing from it. I can feel the lump inside/behind the tragus, deep in the tissue.Size of large pea and very tender. At its worst he had lots of ear and neck pain. Aspirin helped pain. Onset was overnight, got some better in 4 days, flared a little after 5 more days. Now no pain but still has small lump.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
madam,
As per the history and clinical picture your husband may be having infection in the external auditory canal provisionally diagnosed as furunclosis/ abscess of External auditory canal.
presently he needs oral antibiotic, analgesics and needs the packing of external auditory canal with icthymol glycerine for atleast two days .
subsequently if the swelling doesnot subside then he might need aspiration/ abscess drainage.
I find this answer helpful
