Suggest Medication For Constipation

Hello Doctor, My daughter, 6yrs.old, wt.29kg, is suffering from constipation problem. She had great pain at the time of passing stool. The first stool is very hard, thick & long. Sometimes she cries due to pain. Blood also comes out with stool frequently. A small lump of muscle is also seen outside the rectum. She also feels pain from that lump of muscle even when she is not passing stool. I have visited many homoeopathy doctors. According to Doctor's advice plenty of water, ripe guava is given to her. Also stopped taking meat. But no result. Is there any permanent solution of this disease? Pl. advice about the remedy & food habbits of this disease. Thank You.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This may be related to IBS and chronic constipation (spasms). That is particularly true when you consume foods like nuts or popcorn that would trigger spasms of the bowel. I suggest to run colonoscopy to exclude organic problems first. With regards to finding blood floating in the toilet after you pass the motion, that would be related to possible:
- fissures due to chronic constipation
- hemorrhoids

In both cases, you need to take measures to reduce constipation that would trigger such problems:
- do more physical activity
- increase water consumption
- take more foods high in fiber content
- fiber supplements can help
- can use laxatives once in a while to improve the symptoms

I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time. Wish you a good health.
