Hello,

First of all many congratulations for leaving the bad habit that has become the leading cause of oral cancers.

There are a wide variety of cancerous and pre-cancerous conditions that lead to oral cancers caused by eating of gutkha, khaini, chuna and supari.

As a self examinations, first look for any oral ulcers, abraded mucosa(skin inside mouth), any white patches, or whiteness, softness/hardness of the oral cavity skin especially in cheeks, beneath the tongue, on palate and the posterior most part of the roof. Any abnormality of any sort in the above specified area should be seriously evaluated.

An expert consultation of a dentist always advisable.

One better advise for the people who have left the habit is if you feel to have some sort of withdrawal symptoms of tobacco as feeling of low, numbness in fingers, anxiety, urge to take just once you can try for chewing gums available as NICOGUM 4 mg ....3 times per day to provide relief of any above. These chewing gums are very helpful in leaving the habit and preventing from taking up again(reversal). Then slowly reduce the dose.

Hope this would be very helpful.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. FORUM.
Since you mentioned only one thing few days ( but how many days clearly mention).
Usually there develops an ulcer of the part which remains in contact with tobacco and due to irritation this ulcer develops.
Once ulcer is there and consumption of tobacco continue , more irritation and more ulcer and at last it turns into non healing ulcer and cancer.
So you have get rid of this , very nice , now don't be in panic .
Since you don't have any symptom so need not to worry.
Good luck.

Hi
You should be congratulated to have found a way to prolong your life.It not only causes cancer, it also causes heart diseases and Erectile Dysfunctions. It is not so difficult to stop using a drug but needs quite a commitment to remain abstinent. Although all seems fine, it is better if you get your mouth checked by a ENT Surgeon

Thanks for writing in.
First of all, congrats on quitting your tobacco habit. Since you were a chronic tobacco user, I would suggest you to make an appointment with a qualified dental specialist. The doctor will be able to examine and look for any premalignant lesions like leukoplakia. And if present it can be biopsied and the lesion can be determined whether it is benign or malignant
Best regards.
