Late Periods. History Of Regular Periods When On Break From Contraceptive Pills. Normal?

Hi. I am on the contraceptive pill and have been for about six months. I haven't had any problems before and my period has always come on the Sunday after I stop taking the pill for the 7 day break. My period is now late. Is this common when on the pill? For your period to sometimes be late or to miss it altogether? I took the pill as instructed and haven't forgotten one for 2 months worth of packs. Thanks.

Hello,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.

You do not need to worry about late period, as you are taking Pills regularly without any miss.

Late periods while taking pills may be due to some simple reasons like
any emotional distress, change in diet, increased or decreased activity, lack of rest or sleeplessness.

Some common illness like fever can cause stress and may delay your period.
If you have any medication, this may delay your period.

Do not get worry. It is not unusual to have late period while on pills.
Most of the women have experienced the same once in a while.

Hope this helps.
TAke care.

Regards,
Dr.Manjeth
