Laporotomy Done With Incision On The Small And Large Intestines. Protruding Stomach. How Can I Get A Flat Belly?
It has been 1 year since I underwent laporotomy with an incision of 3ft small intestine and one bowel of large intestine . I believe it disturbed the shape of my belly. The belly used to be flat but now slightly protruding. However, I have recovered well after laporotomy and am able to play well (IT professional but a sports buff). But, I would like to get back flat belly. Can I go for rigorous exercise for belly?
After a laparotomy it is always possible that hernia in the incision area will appear. It is because tissues in this place do become weaker. So you should be checked if there is no hernia in this area as maybe it causes abdominal protrusion.
I suggest you to visit general surgeon and have it checked with simple physical examination.
As it takes up to a year for the scar to completely create, after a year you should be able to exercise your belly without any complications. However you should start your exercises gently and gradually increase the intensiveness of it.
Hope this will help.
Regards.
