Knees Swollen After Stretching Legs With Knees Bent Too Much. Any Suggestions ?

I was sitting with my legs stretched and most likely bent my knee too much, backwards, away from the kneecap. The next day of was swollen. It's been 2 days. I can of straighten my leg because I am afraid to injure it more. I have some pain but its nothing some Ibuprofen can't cure. I keep it on ice and put tigers balm. Not getting much better. Any suggestions?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
It is possible that the ligaments around your knee might have got over stretched. The collateral and cruciate ligaments hold the knee in position with the menisci. It is possible that the ligaments could have got pulled.

Though you have written that it was only due to continuous stretching, a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon would help if the swelling does not subside in two days.

Hope this helps.
