Knee Has Shock Like Pain, Very Intense. What Could The Reason Be?

hello,dr. Grief I have been having excrutiating sharp electrical shock like pain behind my right knee outside side. It started 2 months ago and used to just be confined to the back of the knee now it is shooting up my leg. It comes on at anytime time during the day doesn't matter what I am doing. Last for only a few seconds to 45 seconds then it is gone. I have no other pain in my knee and am not having any difficutly with it at this time, Except for these shock like pains. and it is very painful excrutiating, I scream when it happens a d have broken several items that I was holding when it happens, I did not fall or twist it or remember hurting it at any time.

Thanks for consulting at HCM
If there is no known history of Twist injury then it might be due to arthritic changes. You have not mentioned your age. If you are above or around 50 yrs then this is the most common cause. Take NSAIDS and Diacerin Glucosamine combination . It will get relieved after a couple of months after the start of the said treatment
