Joint Pain While Recovering From Alcoholism. Taking Omeprazole, Lisinopril, Iron, Effexor. Any Insight?

I am a recovering alcoholic. I am 59 years old and since I've been in recovery my joints ache. My neck. my shoulders, my knees, ankles and feet. I was very flexible and strong before but now I am feeling pain when I bend down to pick something up[I feel pain in my legs]. I am in recovery for 2 months. I take omeperazol 40 mg. , lisinopril hctz 10 mg.,iron and effexor. My hands also ache along with my wrists and my long muscles in my arm. I have discussed this with my doctor and he has said that when I come back in four months he will do an arthritis screen via blood test. It is true that while in treatment that I spent alot of time sitting, which is not customary for me, and I also spend some time sitting in aftercare therapy. The fact remains that I have never felt this way in my life. I do intend to go back to my doctor in four months but I was wondering if there was anything else I could look into to. My hemoglobin is up to 11.4, my other levels are good. I am 5'3 1/2 " and my current weight is 151 lbs. Any insight would be appreciated.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I have studied your case with diligence.

Alcoholics can have muscle and joint pain
I will advise to take vitamin thiamine and analgesic if no relief then Possibility of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing sodalities can be considered

When such patients come to our hospital I advise them blood test like RA factor, ACCP, ESR, complete blood count, HLA B27.

A treatment regimen for Rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis involves medication, exercise, good posture practices, and other treatment options such as applying heat/cold to help relax muscles and reduce joint pain.
NSAIDs, DMARDs (disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs) are sometimes prescribed in more severe cases.

Hope this answers your query. If you have additional questions or follow up queries then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your queries.

Wishing you good health.

Take care
