Is There Chances Of Pregnancy After Stopping Contraceptive Medicine?

Hi, I stopped being on depo contraceptive in September and not took any other contraceptive in between then and now. I have recently had unprotected sex and was wondering if there's a chance I could still get pregnant? I've not had a period yet since coming of depo but have had some cramps so thought my periods may come soon. Please advise. Thanks

Hi,
Thanks for the query.
If your shot of depo was due in September and you have not taken it than the protection may last at the most for 7 more days after the day the shot was due. If you have had sex after that, then there is always a chance of pregnancy. Sometimes, coming off from depo also delays periods and it takes some time for normal cycle to get established for a while in some women. even then pregnancy cannot be ruled out.

I suggest that you get a home urine pregnancy test done as you have missed your period to clarify things.

Hope this was helpful.
Thanks for using HCM.
Have a good day and take care.
