Hi,I am Dr. Carol Rogala (Emergency Medicine). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My dad's heart is functioning at 30%, his kidneys are at 36% and he's diabetic. How long do you think he has? He also is stage 5 vascular dementia . Had a stroke 15 years ago, multiple heart attacks the list goes on... Right now he is also experiencing chronic angina . They cant do anything do to his health he is maxed out on heart meds. He is also on gout meds which are taxing the kidneys. His blood sugar is nuts and will hit 300 every other day if not daily. How fast are those kidneys going down?
I think you know the answer already. Cherish the time you have left with you dad, and make sure to tell him you love him.
I know that this must be hard for you, and I don't want to undermine that, but remember that you had a father who loved you, and he probably doesn't want to leave either. My father never looked back when he left me. He's alive still, and I know where he is, but I don't care to see him. He doesn't want me, so I don't want him. You've been luckier then me, obvisously if you care about your father's health. At least for when your father's alive, forget about all the things he may have done wrong and just love him.
I wish you well.
