Dear friend, Its nice you have an idea of quitting
smoking. Analyse how far are you ready for this regime first. There are two things to be taken in to consideration while planning for quitting. First about the chain of thought leading to this undesirable activity. second, the craving(bodily requirement). In case you find it difficult to break the chain of thought(obsession) about having cigarettes, just check what are the situations which are prompting you to smoke. The conflict of "YES" and NO, uses the mental energy in the process and whichever wins, leads. A conscious effort of leaving the cigarette in hand thus giving mental energy to the "NO" part, will provide you confidence each time. This mental activity can be compared to a child throwing
tantrum for something that the poor mother cannot afford to. When this conscious process continues, as the child does, the mind will come to terms with you. Second part "craving" can be taken care of by a
psychiatrist who can prescribe you certain medicine which can help you overcome the craving. To sum up, drop the cigarette in hand and say a firm "NO" to that. Be ready to leave the first cigarette in a day. It will add up your confidence. At the meantime, avoid situations which can trigger the thoughts of having a fag, means keep yourself busy in some productive activities.
Regards,
Welcome to a healthy world!
